Snake gourd kootu(Pudalangai Kootu)

Ingredients:

Snake gourd 2 (chopped into small cubes)

Bengal gram

(kadalai parupu) 1/4 cup

Turmeric powder a pinch

Grated coconut 1/4 cup

Salt for taste


For Tempering:

Mustard seeds 1 tsp

Urad dal 1 tsp

Red chilly 3

Chopped Onion 1/2

Curry leaves little

Asafoetida powder 1/4 tsp

Oil 2 tsp


Method:

Soak kadalai parupu for 30 mins in the water.

Pressure cook chopped snake gourd , soaked kadalai parupu, turmeric powder ,salt with required water for 2 to 3 whistles, drain it & keep aside.

In the pan, pour oil, add mustard seeds, once it popped, add urad dal, asafoetida powder.

Add red chilly, chopped onions, curry leaves and fry it well.

Add coconut and mix it well

Now add cooked snake gourd and mix it gently.

Now the kootu is ready to serve with hot steamed rice.
