Green Gram Curry

Ingredients:

Green gram. 1 cup

Fennel seeds. 1/2 tsp

Cumin seeds. 1/2 tsp

Asafoetida powder. 1/4 tsp

Green chilly 2

Curry leaves little

Onion 1

Ginger garlic paste. 1 tsp

Tomato 1

Chilly powder. 1 tsp

Coriander powder 1 tsp

Cumin powder 1/2 tsp

Garam masala 1/2 tsp

Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp

Coriander leaves Handful

Oil 2 tsp

Ghee 1 tsp

Salt for taste.


Method:

Dry roast green gram for 2 mins in the pan and pressure cook with 3 cups of water for 3 to 4 whistles or till soft and cooked well.

In the pan, pour oil, add cumin seeds, fennel seeds, chopped green chilly, asafoetida powder & mix it well.

Add chopped onions ,cook it becomes translucent .

Add ginger garlic paste and curry leaves , cook for few seconds.

Add chopped tomatoes and mix it well.

Add chilly powder, coriander powder ,cumin powder , garam masala ,turmeric powder and fry it for 30 seconds.

Add 1/2 cup water and cook for 2 mins.

Once it started boiling, add cooked green gram and mix it well.

Add 1 cup of water, little coriander leaves and required salt, cover cook in medium flame for 10 mins.

At-last add 1 tsp of ghee and little coriander leaves, and switch off the flame.

Green gram curry is ready to serve with Roti /Rice.
